Kelpies...best dogs in the world

Post by MarkCDodd »

I always have a Kelpie.

They are smart, loyal and can pay attention for long periods of time.

I love Border Collies as well but they are hard to keep amused when training them.

Mark, our family always had Kelpies, too. Such intelligent dogs - not always pretty, but very... doggie... dogs. Only problem is that they were bred as working dogs and do like to round things up - sheep, chooks, cats, old ladies, cars. Well, mine did anyway.

That is why kids love to play with them. Apart from being able to run all day they are almost impossible to trick when throwing balls or playing chase as their breeding as herders makes them able to read your movements and face.

They are definitely an active dog that will find their own entertainment if not kept occupied.

No worse than a Border Collie in that respect.

My Border Collie and Kelpie are ideal for each other.

They have invented their own games, which I am sure have set rules if I could only figure them out, and have trained us 2 legs to perfection.
