He was questioned again by the Metro Police and once again released without charges.

Even if no charges are ever laid or if he beats any in court, his career is ruined.

Being accused of pedophilia is the worst thing that can happen to any man.

It is the one crime where people assume somebody is guilty no matter if there is a total lack of evidence is or if a jury finds the evidence insufficient.

I have had a cousin jailed for many years when two grown women accused him of pedophilia against them to stop him marrying their mother.

No evidence, no witnesses, no confession, no prior accusation in all the years they knew him and no accusation from anybody else.

Evidence was shown that these women had organised bashings and made other threats to stop the marriage.

The Police questioned all the children of previous partners and the dozens of children he coached in different sports and not a single corroborating accusation.

The word of two women saying he did "this and that" ten years ago against him saying "No I did not!".

Any other crime would have seen him walk out of the court.

Instead he ended up in jail for six years and given a label for life.

I have seen excellent child welfare workers who have spent 20 years on the front line permanently assigned to desk duties because street smart teenagers under detention decide to make baseless accusations.

After seeing what happened to them I gave up doing that welfare work as it is too risky for males.

I have seen friends been accused of pedophilia during bitter divorce proceedings and then battle to cleat their name.

The stigma placed on pedophilia means that those who recognise it as a mental illness and try to get treatment are denied even that right under the compulsory disclosure laws.

You can walk up to a shrink and say "I think I am a homicidal maniac. Please help!" and there is no law forcing them to dob you in.

The same can't be said for pedophiles who ask for the same.

Rolf Harris will be the latest victim of our overzealous wish to protect the children.

Nobody questions what is happening as nobody want to be seen "sympathizing" with pedophiles.

But I do think laws need to be changed to protect people until proven guilty. So many stories coming out now of people I wouldnt of dreamed do nanything like that!

But I also feel sorry for the poor children who were abused and too scared to tell or are not believed!
Also nothing to do with career, but the lives they have had to try deal with all that terrible emotion.

I see he has finally been named in the newspapers.
