Hi up to 1881 The lane leading to the Knowle Chapel in photo was called Knowle Lane about 1871-1881 it changed to be called Springfield Lane -best to call in Smethwick Archives and have a good ferret around always friendly helpful staff on hand to help best RF

thanks for the info rf,ive been waiting for the snow to clear. now the archives will be closed for easter i suppose.it must have been tough in the ancesters days with poor heating,light and no hot running water, etc etc etc regards bcb.
