ARC Sir Henry Cartwright, New South Wales, Australia

Post by sp1 »

Found 'Sir' Henry on @ncestry, supposedly the son of Henry Cartwright on BCC here:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ght-Family

The younger Henry born 1883, Lambton, NSW, and died 1948, Wallsend, NSW.

Several searches on Google failed to find anything about him - surprising for someone who supposedly had a Knighthood.

Apparently the elder Henry b 1836, Brierley Hill, also died in New South Wales (1927, Cardiff, NSW).

Any ideas anyone? Mark....?

Just found the NSW birth indexes- he was registered as Sir Henry (given name) Cartwright, father Henry, mother Mary, born Lambton 1883.

So it looks as though Sir was a christian name!?

Also, from the death index, 1927, Wallsend, NSW, Henry Cartwright, 95 Years.
This is supposed to be the Henry born abt 1836 Brierley Hill (according to the info on @ncestry), but the death index gives no other clue apart from age.

Wondered if there was any way to tie Henry b abt 1836 in Brierley Hill to the one in Australia ie the father of Sir Henry

Marriage for Sir Henry
7778/1914 CARTWRIGHT SIRHENRY TRIPLETT IRENE A L GOSFORD
Would the marriage certificate give any extra info? Or help track down a marriage announcement in the paper?

If it matters enough to you then all you can do is check the certificates for yourself. One tree has a painting of Henry snr and son Daniel attached to it.
A couple of other parents (not Job and Harriet) crop up on other trees but they look less researched.

If that note about the marriage certificate is true the he is the one on BCC born Brierley Hill
