The Passion

Post by Rob »

I'm not talking about love well i am really i suppose.
I've been watching,as is my wont at this time of year, a tv play(series?) called The Passion.
I understand it was shown in England last year 2008 but Dutch television have decided this year to send it out.
It's the start of Passover week and in the next few days thousands of pilgrims will pour in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival.
For the High Priest Caiphas and his cronies the workload will be heavy and the pressure to maintain civil order will be intense.
And then Jesus of Nazareth appears with his gang.Entering the city on the back of a donkey.
On the streets crowds begin to form.Is this The Messiah? Is this The Chosen One who will lead them to victory over the Romans and to spirtual salvation?
It all leads up to Jesus being betrayed with a kiss and dying a terrible death on the cross only to be ressurected and later ascend into Heaven.
Love it!!!

Thanks for that Rob....Not seen that ...might have a look see

Easter is a lovely time and I think that we can all take something from it ....be it strengthening our Religious beliefs or a time for Family or just a great time with Easter eggs!

To me it is about a new life, Trees starting to bloom, flowers finding their way out of the hard ground, lambs being born...a time of new discoveries. I really like Spring and I have always loved Easter time.

What does Easter mean for you?

Funny you should ask that Northern Lady but besides the religous aspect which is important this time of year,Easter for me always takes me back to the Sunday School processions when all the girls had their best dresses and Easter Bonnets on.The fellas too (well some of them but they remain nameless).
Then we'd have Easter eggs!! I'd wolf mine down, gone in a day and then i'd secretly take bits off one of my sisters eggs cos i knew her secret hiding place!!
She'd have kept them till next year otherwise!!

Hi NL and Rob, happy easter, and I agree with what you have both posted. This is my favourite time of the year, with everything growing and coming into bloom, baby lambs and the return of the song birds. There's nowhere like England in Spring. Had to laugh Rob, I also remember being on the Sunday School Anniversary, goodness knows why it was so popular!
Being on the top row was such an aspiration. Oh yes, loved the Choccy Eggs too, had one mini one today, and felt guilty! All best wishes from Linell.
