I have a William Henty bap 29th Jan 1809 in West Grinstead, Sussex.
There's a parish record of a marriage to Ann Parker on 25th December 1835 (which is unlikely to be accurate as it's Christmas Day) which also showed up on the IGI as an England-EASy entry.
Then they appear with a daughter Ann on the 1841 census living in Bolney, Sussex.
There's a parish record for a burial for Ann 12th November 1844 at St Mary Bolney and a FreeBMD record of a death March quarter of 1845 in Cuckfield.
William then appears in the 1881 census living in the household of Alfred Greenfield in Cowfold, Sussex.
Finally there's a parish record of a burial for William 18 May 1886 at St Peter, Cowfold stating his address as Cuckfield Union House.
Please can anyone find William in the census records between 1841 & 1881?
Thanks.

Re: William Henty
Did they? I understood that, due to there being only a limited supply of sufficiently educated or trustworthy people, Parish Clerks would sometimes only make the entries occasionally and that they would sometimes round the date to a particular Saturday in the month.

Re: William Henty
I am also under the impression Christmas Day was a big day for marriages - a reason being that you were actually not at work on that day..... so a sort of BOGOF deal, everyone was off for the day and the celebrations (such as they were) could be combined. Of course if you were one of the upper starta its a different matter, but all of mine were certainly jot of the upper strata at all.

Re: William Henty
Could be this one?
In a pub too, and widowed, looks like Henty to me and daughter Ann is in Ditchling too as a servant I think.

Might as well, there doesn't seem to be any further sightings of the elusive William.
