Re: Richard Cardo born 1831 Dudley
Hi Mallosa,
Up until now, I haven't found any link between Richard born 1831 and the Cardo family on BCC.
Richard is the son of George Gordon Cardo and Jane nee Swain who were married at St. Martin's Church Birmingham:
22-04-1828 George Gorden Cardo bachelor of Dudley, Worcs. m. Jane Swain spinster otp. By Licence. Both signed name - he spelt his middle name Gauden. Wits: Elizabeth Swain & (G?) Swain.
Richard and his siblings were baptised at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley:
15-03-1829 George Swain son of George Gordon & Jane Cardo, Dudley, Publican
17-10-1830 Richard Green son of George Gordon & Jane Cardo, Dudley, Publican b. 13-09
03-03-1833 Joseph son of George Gordon & Jane Cardo, Dudley, Publican, b. 04-06-1832
29-06-1834 Thomas Swain son of George Gordon & Jane Cardo, Dudley, Victualler
19-06-1836 Jane Elizabeth Ann daughter of George Gordon & Jane Cardoe, Eve Hill, Victualler
Jane nee Swain died in 1836 shortly after the birth of her daughter who died in infancy. George Gordon died in 1860 and Thomas Swain died in 1867. They are all buried in the Cardo family vault at St. Mary's Church, Oldswinford:
06-06-1836 Jane Cardo, Dudley, 29

23-08-1860 George Gordon Cardo, Dudley, 57
22-02-1867 Thomas Swain Cardo, Dudley, 32
Thomas Swain married Harriet Newey at St. James's Church, Dudley:
17-04-1863 Thomas Swain Cardo, of full age, bachelor, Publican of Dudley, son of George Gordon Cardo, Publican, m. Harriet Newey, of full age, spinster of West Bromwich, daughter of George Newey, Boiler maker. By License. Both signed name. Wits: Joseph Cardo, Joseph Newey and Jane Wood.
Joseph married Emily Ann Challingsworth at St. Edmund's Church Dudley (links to my post re: Ellen Augusta Mary Challingsworth):
27-06-1866 Joseph Cardo, of full age, bachelor, Land Surveyor of Harborne, father deceased, m. Emily Ann Challingsworth, of full age, spinster of Dudley, daughter of William Challingsworth, Licensed Victualler. By License. Both signed name. Wits: William Challingsworth, Joseph Smith, Annie Smith & Ellen Augusta Mary Challingsworth.
Richard married Bridget Worwood at St. Giles's Church, Rowley Regis:
24-05-1864 Richard Cardo, 33, bachelor, Joiner of Turner"™s Hill, son of George Cardo, Inn Keeper, m. Bridget Worwood, 24, spinster of Turner"™s Hill, daughter of Joseph Worwood, Labourer. By Banns. Both signed name. Wits: Thomas Smith & J. Fowler.
