ARC TBC...................John Cardo 1804 - 1843--

Post by Marchesgirl »

Some information about John and his descendants is already on Black Country Connections so I will just include additional information.

John Cardo (married (1) Elizabeth Shaw 17-03-1828 at St Thomas's Dudley; (2) Elizabeth Bloomer nee Woodhouse 02-08-1841 at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley) is possibly the son of Sarah Cardale, baptised 04-11-1804 at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley. John died 18-10-1843 and is buried at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley (22-10-1843 John Cardo, Holly Hall, 39, d. 18-10-1843). Elizabeth nee Shaw is buried at St. Michael's Church, Brierley Hill (25-05-1841 Elizabeth Cardo, The Thorns, 33). Their daughter Jane is also buried at St. Michael's Church, Brierley Hill (03-11-1844 Jane Cardo, The Thorns, 7).

I only have baptisms for John & Elizabeth's 4 eldest children:
26-04-1829 Joseph son of John & Elizabeth Cardel, Thorns, b. 28-03-1829
29-05-1831 John son of John & Elizabeth Carter, Thorns, Miner, b. 31-03-1831
22-02-1835 Matilda daughter of John & Elizabeth Cardo, Thorns, Miner, b. 22-02-1833
22-02-1835 Sarah daughter of John & Elizabeth Cardo, Thorns, Miner, b. 02-02-1835

Joseph & John were baptised at Stourbridge Wesleyan Chapel. Matilda & Sarah were baptised at Mount Pleasant Wesleyan Chapel, but the entries were recorded at Stourbridge Wesleyan Chapel.

There are actually 2 marriage entries for Elizabeth Cardo formerly Bloomer nee Woodhouse to John Pardoe. In addition to the marriage at Kingswinford in 1846, their marriage is also recorded at Christ Church Lye:

14-12-1856 John Pardoe, 50, widower, Nailer of Lye Waste, son of William Pardoe, Nailer, married Elizabeth Cardoe, 50, widow of Lye Waste, daughter of Mark Woodhouse, Nailer. By Banns. Both made mark. Witnesses: William Perry & Eliza Bristow.

John & Elizabeth's daughter Sarah (born 1835) died unmarried aged 20 and is buried at Christ Church, Quarry Bank:
09-01-1856 Sarah Cardo, The Thorns, 20.

All baptism, marriage and burial records were extracted from the parish registers, including the baptism of John son of Sarah Cardale in 1804. :-)

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
