I can validate connection to Benjamin by later Census records as Benjamin's son George Skidmore born 1878 lives with widow of George Skidmore born 1840 in 1891

There is an excellent book called "Skidmore Families of the Black Country and Birmingham 1600-1900" written by Linda Moffat (nee Skidmore).

I believe the archives and local libraries carry copies of it.

I have resolved some Skidmore issues by people looking up information in that book.
