Annie Couch and Benjamin Jones

Post by tangobunny »

I'm looking for information on the above people....my paternal great grandparents.
I think they married sometime around 1908 or 1909....My grandfather was born in Oct 1911 and we think there was possibly one sister born before him....they had 11 children in all the youngest is still alive and is 85 but has mild dementia so I'm not able to ask her....they lived for many years in Pembrey,Carmarthenshire ....Benjamin was born and bred in Wales but Annie was born somewhere in England.....sorry to be vague but I just don't know any more...My Mum thinks they were both around 20'ish when they married

Hope someone can help...I do have the names of all the 11 children but unfortunately majority were born after the 1911 cencus

Wow thanks for your prompt replies....I'm off to find them on a census now if I can

I think the 1911 one is a possibility they could possibly have had one child out of wedlock......

Can I ask is there anywhere I could view the marriage certificate for free or would I have to pay for one......I don't really want to fork out money if they are not the correct couple if you know what I mean

I would imagine it is a registry office....if they already had one child and one due in October then they wouldn't have been able to marry in church

Can I just point out that the marriage of Annie and Benjamin may not have taken in place in a Register Office. There were and are a lot of Nonconformist chapels in Wales and if Annie and Benjamin were married in a Nonconformist chapel, a Registrar from the Register Office would have to be present at the wedding, so the marriage certificate would be in the Registrar's book which would be held at Register Office.

Unfortunately, these Registers are not online, you would have to apply for the certificate.

Hope this helps
