Re: explain!
Wow! You really are upset at this attack on the Queen's English.
I think you need have more leeeesure time.
Drink some beer from an aluminum can.
Leave the "u" out of color.
Replace all dynasty's with dinasties.
Make sure every second word out of a teenage girls mouth is "like".
I personally thought we would all adopt "Shazam!" like Gomer Pyle.
Oh, don't forget to ask people "wassup?"

Re: explain!

I hate the way some young girls are talking. The sound of their voices and accents are doing me head in!!
I was in the bookies at Whiteheath a couple of years ago and this West Indian voice behind me was annoying me so i turned around to see who it was.It was a white kid,18? from the flats!! His dad was at Good Shepherd with me!!
What's that all about?

Re: explain!
A twitterer purporting to be 'Elizabeth Windsor' @Queen_UK tweeted that "There is the Queen's English ... and there are mistakes". I'm with her.
Some mistakes are too much fun

Re: explain!
The one that really gets me - even in big store adverts
Open till ????
A till is something you put money in
Another one is when people put the 'h' sound before the letter H as in HMV or BHS - and I've heard this from top Beeb presenters
The letter H is spelled aitch

Re: explain!
There is a road sign that is common around here when they are resurfacing a road.
It reads, "Road works. No lines marked. Do no overtake unless safe."
OK....I will just wait for you to paint the lines and then I can overtake if it is safe or not!!!!
Another peculiarity is disoriented and disorientated.
For ages I was getting mad at Australian and English people on TV/Radio saying things lkie "The elderly man was disorientated."
I have always used "disoriented" and would have sworn that was the Queen's English.
I thought these media people had succumbed to another Americanism.
Sadly it was 'moi who had been brainwashed by the yanks. Disorientated is the correct pronunciation.
