My great grandparents were Robert Bishop and Mary Selina Hill.
Robert was born July 20, 1851 in Martock
to Thomas Bishop and Aseneth Beck. He died in Oct. 1, 1940 in Sulley Oak, in a hospital.
He was 89.

Need help with the Bishop family, particularly Robert Bishop's wife, Mary Selina Hill. I am stuck at Mary Selina Hill's parents, James Hill and Ann Warren. I have her birth registration (April 28, 1858, Bilston) and these names for her parents are on the certificate. I have gone through records listed on Ancestry.com, but feel very uneasy about what is listed there. Can anyone help?
Also, I don't know how to find out, but apparently Robert Bishop went from being a stationary engine driver to a very wealthy man. My mother told me that he owned a cutlery works in Sheffield, but I don't have any evidence of that. I do know his unmarried daughter, Rosalind, lived well her whole life on her inheritance. Do you think there might be something in the newspapers from the time? Any information would be very appreciated.
Thank you

Sorry, I don't have marriage for Thomas and Asenath. There seem to be multiple Rollasons with the same given names, and it causes me problems on ancestry.com. Same year, same name, different locations....Whew.

Hi Mary keep this thread for the Bishops line and open a new thread in the Black Country Genealogy for James Hill and then one for Ann Warren
keeps it easier to follow
I have moved this thread from BC section to Brickwalls cos we seem stuck on a few things re Bishops
