religious ed exemption codes in school admissions
I recently searched for an ancestor in the London, England, School Admissions and Discharges, 1840-1911. In these records, there is a column called "Whether exemption from Religious Instruction is claimed", and it mostly contains two and three letter codes: mainly R.C. and C.S.B., but there is one F.B. on this page. Does anyone know what these mean? I speculate that R.C. stands for Roman Catholic, though it would be a real surprise to find that any of my ancestors belonged to that denomination.

Fundamental Baptist.
That split into many denominations but for clarity sake they lumped them under F.B.

Thanks, Mark. So what do the other abbreviations (particularly R.C. but also C.S.B.) stand for?

RC might be Roman Catholic

R.C. if definitely Roman Catholic. I have no idea what C.S.B. is.
