i thought id introduce myself im hutchie im 23 and hail from central scotland, bit of an amateur history/genealogy researcher. im ex TA served in the argyll & sutherland highlanders now a member of the royal british legion. work full time as a security gaurd & do research as a hobby
grandfather was in africa/italy/croatia (would like to know what happened to his medals) George F Rankine, 19th port workshop reme
dads uncle was A&SH then went onto do 23 brigade (TA) he served in aden (only just started researching him)
my faincees family had alot who served too, just getting things together for there side

Hi Welcome to the forum..
As to your Granddad's Campaign medals I would ask your parents or any aunt/uncles if they have them... As it's likely that they are lying around in a relative draw somewhere... Campaign medals for some families are pretty sentimental item's but for other families they are a chunk of metal, which I always find sad...
If you can get hold of his service records, you could always order the ribbons for each medal!

thanks for the welcome, jo. those medals were sold as far as everyone in the family knows, im hoping to get ones as they werent engraved
