Happy Campers!

Post by Northern Lass »

Did anyone see that programme about caravanning?

How many of us went in caravans esp tourers?
Did you enjoy it?

I loved caravanning in the 70's we had a static one small 5 berth in the Lake district
great fun
no tv
big bacon and egg breakfasts ...hmmm the smell
fetch your own water!

You'd have your own caravan of course behind the big car!!
We'd spend our holidays in a rented caravan at Borth or Holt Fleet.
I loved it especially the public conveniences!!

This brings back fond memories of those days.
Winkle pickers and girls in roman sandels and beehive hair.

Yes Rob we had a van and yeah it was a big car....

but what I remember as a kid was the freedom to just disappear and then only come back when we
were hungry!
and people spoke to one another!
sat outside caravans chatting!
not sure they do that as much now.

We'll be off in our titchy little folding caravan come May for another 4 months avoiding winter!

I love my little cubby house on wheels. There's a little demonstration on this site : http://www.avan.co.nz/ of a folding van like ours being put up and down. It's just sooo cute!

And I love the traveling life (maybe some gypsy genes there?), bacon & eggs in the open air for breakfast, chatting to other happy campers, checking out everyone else's rigs, sitting outside under the stars with a nice red.
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

Dingos are cute! And it's not the big spiders you have to worry about. It's the little 'uns that hide in your clothes that get you.

Rob, you forgot to mention the snakes.
