Dudley Cemetery.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all those that gave me advise and information on Dudley Cemetery, and Thomas Cadman. I went to Dudley yesterday 19/09/2012. Went straight to the cemetery, found the graves of my great Grandparents. It was all very moving
,but i am glad i went. I went to St Thomas after but was very saddened to find the church locked and the grave yard in a terrible state.
I have yet to find out where Thomas Cadman was buried. So my project is to find him. many thanks to all

Re: Dudley Cemetery.
I have 3 newspaper reports on Thomas Cadman accident, but i cannot find details on his inquest or funeral . I emailed the Hive in Worcester and they kindly looked for the inquest for me but could not find anything. They also looked at the Worcester Journal to see if it had been reported. They said they had more News papers if i would like to go in. So my daughter has offered to go in with me soon to have a look. Worcester is not far from me. It is not so easy for me to get to Dudley, but AuntyEm said she would put it on her list. Somewhere it must be registed where he is buried.Dt

Re: Dudley Cemetery.
The only churches actually in Dudley that had burial grounds were, I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong), St Thomas, St Edmunds, the Wesleyan Methodist Church, St James, St John (Kate's Hill), and the Independent Chapel in King Street. All of these were open in 1860, so there are still a number of possibilities to look at.
It is also worth remembering that if people had family ties elsewhere they may be buried there, particularly if there was a family grave already in use.

Re: Dudley Cemetery.
I have sent a E.Mail to Archives Centre @ Dudley.gov.uk asking them for information on Thomas Cadman. I am hoping they will be able to tell me if it is worth my time travelling to Dudley to do the research.

Re: Dudley Cemetery.
There were dozens of burial grounds in and around Dudley, a lot of Non Conformist Chapels had them too, where did Thomas live, as burials were usually near home, for obvious reasons? Sure you know DT that Dudley covered a wide area, Sedgley, Coseley, Netherton, etc etc. Not all of these Parish Records have survived, you can only search what Dudley holds. I am in the same position, have GtX4 Grandparents who died in Dudley circa 1860, I cannot find their burials either, but I do have the death certificates which is something. Linell.

Re: Dudley Cemetery.
The other thing you need to find is the dates, no point in searching Church Records if that particular Church was not there in 1860!
