Re: Joseph and Rebecca Bastable/Basterfield 1841 Census
I have Joseph with Maria Bagley in my tree here:-
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... i=95815522
1851. Halesowen.
F Joseph Barnfield 70. Wid. Unk. Bricklayer. Looks like Basterfield on image.
Maria Bagley 19. Lodger.
William Bagley 2. Lodger.
Ann Maria Bagley 2 Mo. Lodger.
Samuel Basterfield 14. Lodger.
He must be the Joseph who Married Rebecca. Think the key to this is who were Samuel aged 14's parents? Will have a look.
Many thanks for posting that Jimmy, cheers from Linell.

Re: Joseph and Rebecca Bastable/Basterfield 1841 Census
It is said that having an unusual surname makes it easy to research. Nonsense!!
I am looking for Joseph and Rebecca in 1841 to confirm where they are as I have landed up researching all the Basterfield/Bastable lines to make sense of it all . Also having 2 Josephs of similar ages makes it difficult so I do have to follow both of them. In fact 3 as there is another Joseph and Mary in Birmingham of similar age.
I have transcribed all the St. John BMD's and extracted all the B's, I think.
Sarah is baptised 20.9.1822 to Joseph and Rebecca but this does not fit with Sarah Attwood's age on Census unless it is a late baptism. Yes, there is a big gap.
Samuel Basterfield I cannot fit into a family unless he is Samuel Woodhouse, son of Hannah WOODHOUSE who marries Thomas BASTERFIELD 21.7.1844 at St. Johns. Samuel born 1837
Regards deaths of Josephs I have found at St. Johns:-
Joseph Basterfield aged 89 Borough 17.3.1861
Joseph Basterfield aged 20 months Hasbury 11.8.1861.
Joseph Bastable aged 82 Borough 20.9.1863
I do have the death certs and will pass on the information I have on Benjamin which thank goodness is quite straightforward.
Apologies for causing such confusion!!!

Re: Joseph and Rebecca Bastable/Basterfield 1841 Census
Hi Frances, sorry but it does not look like Joseph Bastefield Widower is in Halesowen in 1841
The only other query is Sarah Basterfield/Bastable, the one who Married Joseph Attwood, we really do not know who she belongs to
Thanks for posting this information, I connect to most of the people mentioned, being Halesowen born and bred, it is helpful to re-check everything over again. Linell.

HI Jan, no this one not around in 1841, this is why Sarah who Married Joseph Attwood has been stuck in the family of Joseph and Mary. Both Joseph's bricklayers, probably connected somewhere in the distant past. I am sure that Sarah is his daughter. She has been added to the Joseph and Mary tree, squashed in between think it was James 1815 and Elijah 1817.
