old family search site

Post by peterd »

well looks like the finally killed of the old site, the new site might have more info but a big step backwards in my opinion on the way you can search it even on the 1881 census you cannot go up and down the street looking for reli next door, the sibling search is more scatter, all in all more is not always better

just been looking at reviews for the new site its been getting a pasting for 1 week period 282 comments carnt see a good one

I don't mind the new one too much, I didn't really search the old one - tended to use the parish records though.
At least then it was easy to see if an entry was transcribed or submitted.

The new one is almost unusable - or at least not as easily searched. Why, oh why, didn't they leave the old one as an alternative? (yes I know it's probably due to server space - but I bet they have a lot of that!

This one tells you if it's Indexed or contributed. https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi

I haven't found the new one that much different. Been using this one for a while. I don't think there will be a better alternative really for pre 1837
