Latest addition to the tree!

Post by sp1 »

I have held off posting as things were, and are, a bit 'touch and go' , but I have a new grandson 'Alfie'.
He decided to appear two months early two weeks ago!
Mom is fine, but he is incarcerated in Russells Hall Hospital for at least the next two months.

I keep telling my children that I'm too young, but they don't believe me!

Bless him. Hope he's soon well enough to go home. Congratulations to you all.

My Husband was born, at home, six weeks early, in 1945. No prem baby units available then presumably, as he was born in Harrow and if they didn't have them in London, I doubt they had them anywhere. He had no nails and was very tiny. The Doctor told his Mum to prepare herself that she wouldn't keep him. He grew up with no problems at all, into a strapping 6ft 2in adult. Tough little blighters, they are.
Just because you're Paranoid, it doesn't mean to say they're not out to get you.

Congrats on Alfie, he sounds like a little fighter.

One of the patients I remember form my early career was a prem baby girl, we did a chest x-ray on SCBU every day for what seemed like ages.
Then we stopped x-raying her. I didn't know what happened until one day, when she came down to the department for an x-ray prior to going home. If it hadn't been for the name, I'd never have recognised her as she'd grown so much. I'd have never guessed she was born prematurely.
Strange to think that by now she's an adult and getting on with her life.
Mostly we never know the outcome for most of our patients, some stand out from the crowd though.
