Watts family

Post by VickieC »

I am looking for connections for a Watts family. My 2nd Great Grandfather, John Watts (born abt 1786 in Pelton Parish, Durham, England), he served in the British Army and fought at the Battle of Plattsburg, NY in 1814. He was wounded and left behind when the troops retreated. He stayed in New York and married. He had a sister who still lived in England, his parents (not sure of their names if his Dad was a John Watts or a Thomas Watts, get conflicting info on that) had died during an epidemic in 1803. His Dad was also an Officer in the British Army. From what I can find out, he and his sister (possibly named Hannah) lived with an aunt and uncle after their parents died, his inheritance was taken by them and he was enlisted by his uncle into the military.

Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
