Thomas Eccleshall boat builder born abt 1790 Staffordshire?

Post by expat66 »

Trying to tidy up my tree and comparing with some other trees on Ancestry ..... quite a few of the Eccleshall trees I have come across are all mixed up ( too many similar names!)...so I am trying to get them straightened out

I am trying to find more info. on this Thomas Eccleshall.

I have some info. on his daughter Sarah .... she married a Henry Arkinstall on 5 Aug 1838 at the Parish Church in Edgbaston

5 Aug 1838. Parish Church, Edgbaston
Henry Arkinstall, full age, bachelor, carpenter,Little Hampton St. father William Arkinstall, carpenter.
Sarah Eccleshall, full age, spinster, Shadwell St, Edgbaston, father Thomas Eccleshall, boat builder.
Witnesses:- George Davis & Mary Ann Jones, all signed

She emigrated to Australia on The Moffat in 1839 along with the extended Arkinstall family
and her death certificate of 1899 listed her age as 80 at the time.
So that would mean that Sarah Eccleshall was born abt 1819

Thomas Eccleshall died in 1848
Info. from death certificate....
6 Jan 1848. Taylors Building, Ladywood, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England
Thomas Eccleshall, aged 57, boat builder, died 6 Jan 1848, at Taylors Bldg,Ladywood Lane,B'ham, cause of death asthma many years, Informant Thomas Eccleshall of Taylors Building, Ladywood Lane, death registered Jan 7th

I can't find him on 1841 census, or what I am assuming is the son Thomas?
the name Eccleshall is frequently mispelt, which makes it difficult :?

Some trees on Ancestry have Thomas Eccleshall ( who died in 1848) born in 1788 Staffordshire and married to a Mary Ann Longmore

Many of my Eccleshalls come from Forton/ Gnosall area of Staffordshire, so this may be from where Thomas comes too?

If anyone could find them in 1841 that would be a big help
Thankyou

In the Gnosall area I have Thomas Eccleshall christened 12th May 1790. Father is John and mother is Mary.

In Adbaston I have Thomas Eccleshall christened 28th June 1792 with father William and mother Elizabeth.
