Olympic Torch

Who is going to watch the torch pass through their part of the country?

I watched it with my two girls during the 2000 run through Australia and it something they both remember with fondness.

I reckon you will be kicking yourself if you don't mae the effort.

I can't wait for the Olmypics to start.

I have 12 dedicated olympic channels to watch it on :shock:

The Veledrome Cycling will be the most amazing competition ever. All year the Aussie pursuit teams have broken world records only to have the British beat them, and their new record, in the next race.

The Brits might also surprise the Americans and Aussies in the pool as well.

Equestrian might be another area where the Brits shock the Germans, French and Aussies.

I am sure the Opening Ceremony will bring a tear or two to the eyes of this expat....

Nope, I think it's a lot of fuss (and expense we can't afford) over nothing. It was reported on the news this morning that some of the souvenir torches are already up for sale on ebay, so much for the 'olympic spirit'. :roll:
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.

The Olympics don't interest me, although I don't doubt there will be the occasional event I will pick up on and follow. The Torch arrives in Worcester around 6pm Thursday and is spending the night at New Road, the County Cricket Ground. As the forecast is good for Thursday, it is a good excuse for us to walk across to the Tything, where there are several 'Real' pubs in the long terrace of buildings there. So I'm thinking, a pint of Real Ale, followed by a Curry in one of the 8 or so Indian Restaurants in that half mile stretch. We rarely go out in an evening, so will be a good reason to go out. :grin:

We went last night and I have to say, it was a truly wonderful evening. The best bit coming at the end, where we met and chatted to Thomas Neathway, what an inspirational young man! http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/t ... index.html

There is always controvery about who is slected and how.

BUt you do get serving torch barers like your young chap.

Hard to imagine anyone more worthy and despite only having one intact limb he is still working with the Paras, helping others who have been wounded. What a son to be proud of. He had such a cheeky grin and was so bubbly, can't really put into words how he made me feel. Very complex emotions.

I went to see it yesterday in Telford with my Granddaughter and her friend. It was very exciting, and we had an amazing afternoon!

It is a lovely occasion, isn't it? There has been no other event in my lifetime that has brought out such vast crowds and such a lovely atmosphere. The people we met and talked to, well the Torch was almost an incidental. :lol: And it was a fantastic boost for local trade here in Worcester. :grin:

It is, Lulu. I've never seen so many people in Telford Town Centre, so many smiling, happy faces. It was wonderful.
