ARC PENDING CERTIF INFO.......Hill Family

Post by blackcountrybiker »

Northern Lass wrote:Hi BCB I have added Minnie Hill to BCC. Can you post the marriage details you have pls for David and Minnie and we can add that info to the tree
do you know who her parents were? we may have them on the tree already

Minnie Hill b 15 Dec 1893; married David Wesley Taylor at St Andrews Netherton 20 Sept 1924. Minnie died at 32 Walker Street Netherton 20 April 1963

Her parents were William Hill and Matilda Hill (nee Ann Matilda Hodgkiss or Hotchkiss as she appears on census). The Hodgkiss family should be well represented on BCC as they are intermingled with the Shaws, Perry's, Garratt's and Homers. Ann Matilda was from Cradley Heath

William Hill was born Netherton 1859 died abt 1935. He was the son of Christopher Hill (Jan 1838 N'ton died Oct 1913) and Lucy (Hill) --- I don't know Lucy's maiden name... yet!

Christopher Hill was son of William who was born Netherton abt 1812. William was married twice... his wives were Ann and Mary. Between them there were four more children beside Christopher - Solomon, Ann, William and Lucy. That's as much as I've got so far. Thanks again for all your kind help, looks like I've revealed a few more connections on BCC too. :)

William Hill (b 1812 Dudley) was definitely married twice. I don't have any certificates or proof of dates but this is what I have from my grandafthers notes written back in the early 70s when I first started asking him about my family.

Williams first marriage was to Mary (no maiden name). He thinks that they had 3 children Lucy b 1835, Christopher b 1838 and William b 1840. His 2nd marriage was to Ann (no maiden name). Grandad reckons that they had 2 children, Solomon b abt 1848 and Ann b abt 1850. It's worth remembering that most of his notes were written from memories of what his wife told him. As these memories are as heard from other family members, they might not always be accurate. It would be great to put some facts to my grandads notes now and tie all the family details together at last. My mother knows nothing of her own Mums family history - pah! Parents!! who'd have em?
