Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
Kate Priest, Daughter of Joseph and Rosanna married to William Bloomer. In 1891.. they were residing as the head of the household in Kate's parent's home at 30 Bowling Green. I do have a great deal of their family information. What is missing is the parents of Joseph and the parents of Rosannah. I believe that Rosannah's father is James Raybould... and I think that Joseph's father might also be Joseph. I am hoping there is someone out there that will be able to dot the i's and cross the t's on this family. Too many trees on the Ancestry.uk site have information that just doesn't compute. I am ready and willing to share what I have on these individuals in hope of finding some earlier information on their parents.
thanks for your reply... Lynn

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
I think this could be Rosanna's christening:- Rosanna Raybould dr of James and Mary of Rowley Nailer 31.12.1826 Halesowen.

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
Thanks for everything posted so far... I'm a little "green" on this forum.... I hope my posts and query are now in the right area. Yes.. I would believe that is the baptism of our Rosannah Raybould. I did find the name of MARY BRETTELL..(as the wife of James Raybould and mother of our Rosanna) but have no way of proving it...with the information available to me right now. I now see this family on the BCC and that is great.. perhaps someone else will find it and know some answers and information they can provide. thx. Lynn

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
No more information for Sarah at Cradley Baptist Church.
Jesse's Christening says - Jesse son of James and Mary Raybold of Rowley - Labourer
Thomas's Christening says - Thomas son of James and Mary Raybould of Rowley - Nailer
Would think the occupation is the same, just different ways of describing it, what do you think NL

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
In the list of Baptist Seat Rents, both Jesse Raybould and Benjamin Raybould rented pew 40 1822 - 1825. Just wonder if they are connected to James

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
I have always suspected that Sarah Raybould (married to Isaac Willetts) and born about 1823 is a sister to my Rosanna Raybould....given the fact that "James Raybould" was shown as the father on the marriage information.
You people rock with the information you have at your fingertips.... I am ever grateful.
children of Kate Priest and William Bloomer are Minnie Bloomer b 1890 and Eva Bloomer b 1892 (Do not see any further children to this couple)
No, I do not have any certificates. Most of the information I have is coming from family research on our descendants. BUT what I am finding is matching to what I have been shown and given with respect to this lineage.
thanks again

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
Exactly right. Ellen Willetts (dhtr of Sarah Raybould and Isaac Willetts) did marry James Priest (son of Joseph Priest and Rosanna Raybould) Not the first time that 1st cousins have married. I have found a good amount of interlinking of the Willetts/Fellows/Priest/Raybould.

Linell: can you please enlighten me on this sentence: "In the list of Baptist Seat Rents - both Jessie and Benjamin Raybould rented pew 40 1822-1825"... This is something new to me in my researching.. I have to admit I don't understand what Baptist Seat Rents means... thank you.

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
Hi Jan, hope they sort out the IGI pretty damn quick. I agree your James and Mary Ann Weston seem to be a Netherton family, we know that Lynn's James lived in Rowley, which is anything from Old Hill, Cradley Heath to Rowley Village.
Lynn, Re Pew Rents, years ago the Churches used to charge for renting a Pew, so if you wanted to sit in a certain Pew with all your family, you had to pay rent for it. The Jesse and Benjamin Raybould I found were renting a Pew or Seat in the Baptist Chapel Cradley, so they were of the Baptist Faith, their belief's were very strong, they lived and died the cause, very devote, as were the Methodists too. There were only a few Rayboulds listed in the Baptist Book Index, so could have been one extened family, or maybe a couple. My Stringer family worshipped there too, and all the Stringers in the Index were one family, the Congregation was only something like a couple of Hundred back in 1820, so they would have all known each other and many were related. Just thought I would mention Jesse and Benjamin incase it rang any bells with you.
Hope this helps from Linell.

Linell: Thank you very much.. I had my suspicions that was the case... but just wasn't totally sure...having never come across this in earlier lineages... Interesting. Thx Again.

Re: Researching Priest and Raybould names
Hello: For everyone that is helping me to establish if James Priest b: 1820 and Joseph Priest b:1824 (are brothers) and the maiden name of James Raybould's wife "Mary"... I am in very active search of this information and I just heard from an Ancestry member who has a private tree and she responded to me that she also shows MARY BRETTELL as the wife of James Raybould. She also said she could not confirm this is right.. but that now makes a private and a public tree for this James Raybould with a possible maiden name for James' wife. I will keep up my search as well.....and I thank everyone for all these postings... they are very enlightening and so far have been very helpful. If not new information.... confirming information. Thx.
