Looking for the Bunney Family

Post by zuberfamilyor »

I am looking for information regarding Fred Bunney and his family.
He married Rose Small in Sept 184 in South Stoneham.
He was born abt.1873 on census records it says New Forest.
She was born abt. 1875 she says south hampton.
There children are,Fred( found him on the 1901 census but not the 1911) Rose Emiline, (she is my ancestor I have birth and death dates for her she immigrated to the US) Lilly, Gertrude, Bertie?, Alise, Ethel, Darrieth? and Erenst?.
I have only found the 1901 and 1911 census records for this family. also in 1901 Rose's brother William Small was living with them.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, it says the one boy is 16 and a stepson, that would mean it was his wifes from previous relationship? She would have been 12 if the census age is right....

Three things to remember when reading census forms:
"stepson" can be used in a very loose way not just as we use it today
Ages can be notoriously inaccurate on census
they had children earlier than we expect

Conclusion:
He may be his wife's son and she may have been 12 when she had him but this might all be wrong!

Either Peter or his wife may have been married before, girls could marry at 12. The only way to find out is to order Walter Bunny's birth certificate. HTH from Linell.

It looks as though Peter Bunney Married twice, although you would need to check, found him in 1871 with his Parents:-

Clifton Farm South Stoneham

Peter Bunney HD M 71 Labourer in Garden born Ampfield Hants
Elizabeth Wife M 65 Nurse
Sarah Da U 32
William Son U 27 (looks like Plasterer)
Peter Son Married 25 Groom
Walter Grandson 5

The family were all born in Hants, not knowing the area I cannot decipher the different place names on the Census.

Case closed! Found more people researching. And found that William although listed as Peters stepson is actually his son from a previous (well continual marriage. But with a different lady.) William is his son.
Thanks for all the help!
