I have the following two James Hillmans in the search on FMP for the 1871 census
HILLMAN, James 1850 21 M Steyning Sussex
HILLMAN, James 1848 23 M Steyning Sussex
Would someone be kind enough to look them both up for me and let me know the household, address & citation info.
Thank you.

The first one is:
George Street, Hove
James Hillman, Head, Unmar, 21, Journeyman Baker, Sussex (Image says Ashington, and I think the county is Surrey rather than Sussex)
He's living on his own by the looks of it

The second one is:
Bergenop Zoom , Ashurst
James Hillman, Head, Unmar, 23, Huckster, Sussex St Johns
Mary Whittingham, Servant, W 43, Housekeeper, Sussex Falmer
Albert Elmsley, Servant, Unmar, 18, Servant (in different handwriting) Sussex Ashurst
The address is a bit weird, could be Toom rather than Zoom, there's an enumerators mark across it, so the p and the z aren't quite clear.

Thanks, it's Bergen ap Zoom, the house is still there and google gives a bit of info as well as coming up with estate agents details including pics.snoopysue wrote:The second one is:
