Re: Myrah Yardley (1833-1892)
About my grandfather's two elder brothers the oldest Edward Charles Bastable married Comfort Siviter on 28th June 1875 at St Thomas's Church, Dudley. They originally lived in Blackheath but moved to Coseley where they lived I think for thev rest of their lives.
I believe they had 8 children namely Sally (1880), George (1885), Joseph (1887), Samuel (1888), Sampson (1893), Agnes (1891), John (1894) and Myra (1896). I can only speak on the descents of two of these. I know that Joseph and his wife Clara moved to Wolverhampton where their descendants I understand still remain. John and his wife Clara moved to the Stoke on Trent area where I am in present day contact with the family.
As regards Charles Edward Bastable and his marriage to Ruth I am grateful for the previous posting as I did not have these details. I do know however that they continued to live in Blackheath and I believe that their 6 chidren were Mary (1880), Charles (1881), Sarah (1881), Sampson (1883), William (1886) and Sam (1889).
This is a time when I now regret not having asked my grandfather about all this because I believe they were a “close†family but like most youngsters I suppose I wasn't interested in such things then. Finally although I have no reason to suppose not, research on some of the above listed children was done by other family members and I haven't checked it out, so I cannot guarantee it's accuracy.
Can I remind Bastable researchers that a common mistake in official documents like the census and parish registers is that our name was in the past sometimes written as Basterfield or similar particularly in the Halesowen area where there were†more of them than us†to be found. The names I am reliably informed have completely different origins and are not interchangeable.

Re: Myrah Yardley (1833-1892)
Neville Bastable wrote:Many thanks to colleagues for their contributions. I am a new member and am amazed at the response. Thanks also to Linell for her kind words. I have been asked to comment on the connections tree. Just to say that my great grandfather (married to Myrah) is referred to as Samuel. There is no doubt he is Edward Sampson. This is confirmed in the many messages quoting censuses. Charles Yardley from Cradley Heath is also mentioned in the messages as is Thomas Yardley. These I believe are two of her brothers.
I'm going to take this opportunity of advising the names of the spouses of Myrah's children, some of which I think you have already.
Ann was married to William Grosvenor.
Edward Charles to Comfort Siviter.
Charles Edward to Ruth ? ( I never did know her maiden name)
Samuel to Matilda Massey.
Jane Lucretia to Joseph Law who died. Her 2nd husband was Samuel Shaw.
Myrah Edith to Samuel Bastable (a distant cousin)
Sarah Ann to William Field
Sampson to Jane Foster.
Elizabeth I'm afraid I don't know !
Mary Hannah married John Thomas Parkes.
Two children namely Joseph (1859) and Mary Anna (1863) died in infancy.
Seems as if I may have found one or two relatives already. What a wonderful site this is !
Neville Bastable
I've found most of the marriages for Myrah's children and added individual notes ....see here
