Can anyone help, please?
I've been looking for ages for rellies to Joseph Bate born 1855 in Tipton. He married Sarah Jane Evans in Dudley, 1874. I have 1881 Census details describing him as an iron worker, and listing their children. No problem there.
The problem I have is; Who is his parents?
I'm sure there is a link to the Joseph Bate / Elizabeth Mills marriage of 1812, but I can not make the connection (if there is one).
Any pointers would be very appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Joseph Bate 1855
Hello
I have added this family to our Black Country Tree here :
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =775501123
According to West Midlands BMD, Joseph and Sarah married at St John, Kates Hill in 1876.
A copy of their marriage should show who their father's are. Sometimes, people might go to Dudley Archives and look up marriages for the Forum. I will add this marriage to the list, but I don't know how soon this will happen.
You can download a copy of the request form from the site here :
http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/cgi/m ... stmidlands,
or apply to the General Register Office here :
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
Hope this helps
Maggie

Re: Joseph Bate 1855
Thanks for your help.
I was side-tracked originally by the Bate/Todoff marriage of 1876, but working backwards from my grandfather my rellies are Bate/Evans. I haven't found a single direct ancestor for him anywhere. I'm not even sure anymore whether there is a link between his parents(?) and Bate/Mills of 1812. I'll keep trying.
Catch you all soon, and thanks again.
