I have found the marriage for Edward Bastable and Margaret Edwards and have added here : http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =964925348
Margaret, a widow, and her children are living at 34 Dibble Road in Smethwick in 1911, very near the address of the parents of William George Bastable who died in WW1.
It is this lot isnt it and the record should say Edward as father not Wm
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ble-Family
Additional Information from CWGC:
Son of W. G. and Margaret Bastable, of 37, Dibble Rd., Smethwick, Staffs.;
Husband of Elizabeth Abbey (formerly Bastable), of 16, Nelson St., Oldbury, Birmingham.
and for some reason is he adopted by the Walkers
aged 40 though in 1917? still able to join up I suppose?
That then all works if you take the name of father as Edward not Wm and mother margaret

Re: Thomas Bastable & father Edward----Antie em adding
That was what I thought. But I once applied to have some extra information added for one of my rellies and you wouldn't believe the performance - I had to send them his birth cert, his parents marriage cert and their death certs and loads of other stuff, which makes me think they check things really thoroughly. Although if the information was given just after the war, they might not have been so tight.
