Samuel Bastable died WWI

Post by expat66 »

Just wondering whether I need to wait for marriage lookup for Samuel or whether you think the following info. is OK to add anyway?

This Samuel on BCC...

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ble-Family

I think may be this Samuel Bastable ( Coseley fits  ) ...

Name: Samuel Bastable
Residence: Coseley, Staffs.
Death Date: 21 Mar 1918
Death Location: France & Flanders
Enlistment Location: Tipton, Staffs.
Rank: Gunner
Regiment: Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery
Number: 204965
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre

There is a Probate record for him....
Samuel Bastable of 8a Bayer Street, Coseley, Staffordshire, gunner R.F.A. died 21 March 1918 in France on active service. Administration London 21 November 1919 to Beatrice Maud Bastable, widow. Effects 680pounds 17s 8d

I think this may be the marriage..
West Midlands Marriage indexes for the years: 1913 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference BASTABLE Samuel GUTTERIDGE Beritice M Coseley, Christ Church Dudley Register Office 208/008/423....lookup posted

...his poor wife.... she may have given birth to a daughter around the same time :( ...

Edna M Bastable
Mother's Maiden Surname: Gutteridge
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1918
Registration district: Dudley
Inferred County: Staffordshire

I don't know what relation Beatrice would be to the Gutteridges already on BCC?

I think this is her...

Beatrice Maud Guttridge
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1892
Registration district: Dudley
Inferred County: Staffordshire, Worcestershire
Volume: 6c
Page: 75

and death...

NL,
Think you are right about waiting for the lookup...... do you want to archive for now?

I meant to put the link to Samuel not Samson in that family .... getting my Bastables mixed up

I have come across quite a few Bastables in the military records ... I will work through the other bits of info. I found and see if I can find any others on BCC
