Lots of Aussies get bit, especially by the Tiger Snake which will chase you to bite you whilst making a barking sound. All of the other snakes will slither away when they hear a human approaching.

As long as you don't panick and don't have an allergic reaction you will be OK as all hospitals carry anti-venom.
