I agree, grangers 14, it is odd! William's age varies in the censuses, 1811 fits the IGI, which 1841 says; 1851 suggests 1807. And yes, Mary Ann seems to have been born in London rather than Longton. Her age: born 1816 according to the 1841 census; 1810 acc. to the 1851; 1861 census born 1815; 1871 born 1811. I've no solution really. People sometimes trimmed off a year or two for the purposes of the marriage market, but that wouldn't explain it here!

The 1911 census is no less strange for Louisa Plant née Bache. Born London? And I have no daughter Ellen!:

EALES, Mark Head Married M 53 1858 General Letterpress Printer Birmingham
EALES, Ellen Wife Married 11 years F 38 1873 Wolverhampton
PLANT, Louisa Mother In Law Widow F 66 1845 London
TRUMAN, Lilian Boarder Single F 18 1893 Printer Platers Hand Birmingham

Do you have the mariage info fo William and Mary Ann, may be the witnesses might help?

1841 census ages were meant to be rounded down, looks like they did so I wouldnt count 1841. I dont think we can have that birth in for her though...
