seem to be quoting the same 1841 census but the fathers are different - Samuel v Stephen


Does that add to the confusion?

Josiah and Phoebe Rollason are related to Thomas Perry I think. Pheobe being his sister

What I don't understand is who is Josiah Law witness to Josiah Rollason and Phoebe Perry marriage in 1876? The Ellen Law could be Ellen Lowe pre-marriage I suppose.

I dont understand any of it

-Is Ellen partner to Josiah Ruston?
-Are those Rollasons Josiah Rustons?...they seem to put Josiah Rollason as father on marriages is this supposed to be Josiah
Ruston?
-Do Mary and Ellen have different fathers one Samuel one Solomon?

It is impossible to say isn't it?

It looks to me as though Josiah Ruston gave them his surname in the census but they never stopped being Rollason. The boys (John, Stephen and Josiah) give their father as Josiah Rollason which could be Josiah Ruston's first name plus their mother's surname. But the girls (Ann and Phebe) give no father.

I don't think that Lucy Rollason and Josiah Ruston married.
His brother Obadiah married
