First christmas i can remember is when i had a pair of "Stanley Mathews" football boots. Brown ones that covered your ankles and had wooden studs and a hard toecap!!
This must have been around 1954 the year West Brom won the cup.
It wasn't my best christmas but the first one i think i remember.
Nice one Northern Lass.Do i know you? :?

No we not met but your accent sounds familiar!

My bestest ever crimbo was when I got a raleigh 20! I wanted a racing bike but this was great! all shiny and new and turquioise the in colour too!
Trouble is with the little wheels you had to pedal real fast to get up the hill!

And do you remember the socks that were filled with nuts, and a satsuma and apple that was so good!

Hey! Second shift on.

When I was a kid all I wanted for Christmas was books, more and more books! And I'd be so disappointed when I would open a lovely big rectangular parcel and find ... a box of clothes! Yuck!!! I would have got clothes sometime anyway - after all they had to dress you.

I'm still a big kid. I still wake up early on Christmas morning and rush out to open presents. We don't have children, so have to play the part ourselves ... Oh, dear, what a shame!

Hi NL,

I hate the cooking too, but hate the washing up worse! Best Christmas Lunch was a lobster and champagne picnic. There are some advantages to a hot Christmas ... But I still want a white one. Have to go to Scotland. Or Switzerland. That'd be nice. They do the Chrissy lights well - and CHOCOLATE!!!

Ooooh and for a few years we had bacon butties and bucks fizz.... careful how I say that or it becomes a spoonerism
And then we didn't want the big roast dinner I spent ages cooking.

I am never ever cooking a flippin turkey again I hate it and wot ever you stick in it it is still dry unless you cook it upside down...not me the bird!!
And I think chicken tastes better!

So dunno wot we gonna have.... I fancy just a cold buffet this year
Or I am open to invites!
Dont all rush at once.....
