Timothy Garratt who joined the Royal Marines, 83rd Company, Portsmouth in 1800, birth place given as Dudley, Worcestershire.
So he must have been born abt 1778. There's no discharge date. Info from TNA's

Living in Cock St, Diss, Depwade, Norfolk in 1841.
I have a faint recollection that 'Diss' was a military town...
Can't make out his occupation on census.
