Hello! I'm new ... BATE and COLEY/Black Country
I'm looking for ancestors BATE and COLEY, from chain-making families in the Black Country [Stourbridge, Dudley, Cradley Heath]. Despite there being hundreds of them, or perhaps because of it, have hit a brick wall. The only thing I'm sure of is that Clarence BATE [my grandfather] married Dora Millicent COLEY [my grandmother] during or just after WW1. Their children were named Alan, Brian [my father] and Anne. Clarence was one of 12 or 15 children. Dora had a brother Tom and a sister Verena, and possibly others. Sadly, all are now deceased.
Is anyone looking for the same family? Or tips on how to start from so little information?
