how do you know if you load it on your computer that you havent loaded it twice

I have a microsoft office home and student disc I thought it had some left on
to load to other comps but not sure how much left on disc.

I loaded it on comp put in key and it seemed to install
then for some reason comp must have closed and restarted.
So I loaded it again and watched it this time adding the key in again.
It loaded fine but nowhere did it say how many I had left on
I darent ring Bt again

I have that disc but think mine is only for one , I loaded my twice because did not think it had worked , second time it told me it was all ready installed on the laptop.

My friend downloaded this Peterd and likes it says it good.

Hi Northern Lass if you click help and search i some options may come up where you can see how many you have left , I did not know you could get them for more than one user.

You can't tell how many you have left as it doesn't keep count locally.

When you purchase a multi licence version then you get a single DVD.

Say you purchased the 3 user home version.

Each time you load it onto a PC you use the same authentication code as the DVD only has one on it.

When your PC authenticates its Microsoft Office with Microsoft via the Internet, characteristics of your PC are stored with the authentication.

Microsoft knows that only three PC's are supposed to be authorised with that licence and eveytime a new authorisation occurs, it checks to see if it is a rebuilt PC or one with different characteristics.

Everytime you PC automatically updates Microsoft Office, it re-authenticates itself.

This means that if you installed the product on you new machine and nobody was using the old machine, Microsoft will realise that you have simley transferred a licence to a different PC.

If it thinks that more than three licences are being used, you will get a warning message.

THERE IS NOTHING ON THE DVD TO STOP YOU INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE A GAZZILION TIMES.

Open Office is very good and very well priced (free) but these days I'd encourage anyone to get a Google account and use Google Documents (free and pretty much like Office) with the added advantage they are all web based so you don't need to worry about installs on your computer - indeed if you log on to another computer anywhere in the world you have access to all your documents. You get a stack of storage for nothing and if you want more - well I have around 80 GBs worth for about £12 a year.....
