ARC TBC.............William Golding b abt 1825

Post by Dig »

Hi

I am interested in tracing the family of William Golding born between 1823 and 1827 in Madeley Wood / Wellington, Shropshire. I have found William in the 1851 England census where he is listed as William Golden and in the 1871 England census where he is listed as Willm Goulding. For most of his life William lived in Littlefields, Oldbury with his wife Ann.

I have been unable to find William in the 1841 census in order to find out who his parents may have been. The exact location of his birth is uncertain. I have also been unable to trace Ann"™s family back as I do not know her maiden name.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello

Some of the 1841 Oldbury and West Bromwich census hasn't been photographed and indexed. It was originally written in pencil , which faded and the then some of the books were water damaged whilst being stored in the basement of West Bromwich Town Hall. You are able to look at the microfilm of the original in Smethwick Archives, and they do hold an index book of names for the area. You might just be lucky and find them.

Good luck - Maggie

You could get a birth cert for one of the children to find Anns maiden name.
Possible birth for Emma?
local office http://westmidlandsbmd.org.uk
West Midlands Birth indexes for the years: 1845
GOLDING Emma Oldbury Sandwell Register Office OLD/7/427

You could double check with them to make sure father is Wiliam.
