arc tbc.........Two Ephraim Evans one born 1878, one 1882

Post by expat66 »

I was trying to find out more about this Ephraim on BCC
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ans-Family

born 1878

Name: Ephraim Evans
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1878
Registration district: West Bromwich
Inferred County: Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire
Volume: 6b
Page: 793 (click to see others on page)

I came across an Ephraim Evans in the WWI records, but his birth worked out as 1882
and there is this one on England & Wales BMD
Name: Ephraim Evans
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1883
Registration district: West Bromwich
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b
Page: 796 (click to see others on page)

and there is this death
Name: Ephraim Evans
Birth Date: abt 1883
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1930
Age at Death: 47
Registration district: West Bromwich
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b
Page: 916

so I decided this Ephraim in the WWI records must be a different one.... and not on BCC

From the WWI records there is quite a bit of info. on him
Ephraim Evans of 13 Hawthorn St, West Smethwick age at enlistment with S. Staffs. regiment...32 years 9months on 22 Jul 1915
occupation...navvy
wife Ruth Evans ... married 5 Jul 1915 registry office
address given later as 21 George St, West Smethwick

He was redeployed from April-Jul 1921 for some 'emergency'? with the 7 Bn. Worc. Def. Force ( what would that have been?)

Children ... can't read names as records burnt ... but 2 birth years legible ... 21 Dec 1911 ( illegitimate?) and 2 Dec 1919

I haven't been able to find him on census records

There is this marriage....EVANS Ephraim... SMITH Ruth.... West Bromwich Register Office (WBRO)... Sandwell Register Office WBRO/59/86.
...so his wife's maiden name was Smith

Can anyone make any use of this info? .... does he tie into BCC at all? .... or is he a 'Brummie' instead?
Cheers.... and Happy New Year!
