ARC TBC............William Hewitt born 1879 from WWI records

Post by expat66 »

Still working on my Hewitts

Came across this chap in the WWI pension records. I don't think he is one of my Hewitts but there is quite a bit of info. on him amongst those military records.
Can't match him up with any of the BCC Hewitts either.

Here is what is in those records ( could do with someone else checking them too, as I was struggling a bit with some of the handwriting)

William Hewitt of 21 Tower Street, Dudley
Occupation motor car driver
Age at enlistment 37
Joined up 1916
Married ..... wife Alice Annie Hewitt
marriage 24th ( or is it 27th?) April 1902 at Congregational Church, Dudley
wife's name.... Alice Annie Boden ( ?) spinster
Children:
Alice Maud born 3 Jun 1904
Arthur Gerald born 25 Mar 1907
Lillian Anne born 15 Jun 1909
Ernest George born 20 Jan 1913
Gertrude Mary born 28 Apr 1914
William Henry born 2 Mar 1916

William Hewitt was eventually deemed physically unfit for service due to osteo arthritus.

I don't know whether anyone can match these stray Hewitts up with any of the BCC ones? :?:

Ahh! They have been added after all, as sons of John and Annie - here

Strange...John is shown as unmarried in 1881 :?
