Jane here at 34 seems to have gone to live with a Walter ? born c. 1856(? her son). Walter is never on the census returns. Did they give Children away in 1860?

Thomas' grandson here at 2 years remembers an Uncle Walter but he doesn't appear anywhere until the 1881 census!

Where is Jane on the 1861 Census with Walter, sorry the above is confusing, but yes a baby's life in 1860 was very precarious, they ended up with friends, relations, neighbours even Baby Farms, can you post the details please?

Ok I found this under Census look ups:-

1881.
Jane COTTRELL Head U Female 58 N K, Stafford, England
Walter COTTRELL Son U Male 25 Bham, Warwick, England Furnaceman (Iron)

High Street.
Northfield, Worcester.

Nothing for Walter in 1861.

Jane is with her family on the 1861 census at 34 but not on 1871 with her family. I wonder if she left home and went to find Walter at 44? She is with him in 1881 then seems to return to live with her son Thomas until she dies. Very odd but thanks for letting me know that children ended up all over the place, that will stop me scratching my head so often! I guess we now have an uncle Walter to look up. :P

here she is at 86 years

James William COTTRELL son 1 b.Harborne.
Jane COTTRELL mother widow. 86 b.Stoulton, Worcs.

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
