Two Benjamin Bird

Post by mumbles »

I have just added this Benjamin Bird as part of Two Thomas Siviter Thread
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections
When I noticed this one on bcc as Benjaim Bird :-
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

Ancestry trees show James Bird married Hannah Hodgetts 6/5/1836 St. Thomas
Hannah was previously married to James Whitehouse 16/9/1821 Kingswinford thus a Whitehouse daughter on 1841 Census
and then son Benjamin Bird marrying Martha Harley daughter of William Harley born 1801 and Sarah Unknown

Have corrected typo on 'Benjaim" = "Benjamin" on census.
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

From Ancestry there appears to be a mystery regarding Whitehouse or Bird

The information that I am giving came to me by letter from M. Caladine who has studied the Whitehouse families and the Bird families for some time.

1831 James was christened Bird
1850 James married his name was Whitehouse - Certificate of proof
Census - 1841 - 1851 Bird
Census - 1861 - 1891 Whitehouse
Census - 1901 Bird
1909 James died Whitehouse-Bird
James and Hannah's children used both names as well, all dying with the last name Bird or Whitehouse-Bird

The various Ancestry Trees are a mix up as some show James Bird marrying a Ann Whitehouse in 1821 and then Hannah Hodgetts in 1836
whilst others show Hannah Hodgetts marrying a Joseph Whitehouse in 1821 and then marrying James Bird in 1836

Link to Siviters is proved by Probate record
Benjamin Bird 89 High Street Blackheath Rowley Regis Staffs. Fruiter and Dealer died 30/6/1892 Probate Lichfield to Martha Siviter ( wife of Thomas Siviter ) effects £50

Nl
In order to sort Bird Whitehouse puzzle it would be necessary to post a number of look ups some earlier than 1837 and without reference details
1) Hannah Hodgetts married to Joseph Whitehouse Kingswinford Staffs. 16/9/1821
2) Hannah Hodgetts married James Bird 6/5/1836 St. Thomas
3) BIRDJosephPEARSONMary ADudley, St EdmundDudley Register Office201/003/310 1859

5)WHITEHOUSEAnnALLDRIDGEDavidDudley, St ThomasDudley Register Office204/007/97 1846

I am not sure whether first two can be looked up
but if not latter 3 would help
