ARC TBC - Joseph Dimmock

Dimmocks seem to be dominating discusions at the moment. Can anyone throw some light on Joseph? He seems not to have been on the same ship as the rest of his family in 1886, but I can't find him in the UK in the 1891 census. Did he emigrate earlier, and his family then go to join him? Joseph and Emma are back in Providence Street in 1901 and Joseph died in 1927 (we have the M.I. from Cradley Heath cemetery).

RF found Joseph Tibbetts next door to his married sister Elizabeth Wells.

RF is correct, Joseph Tibbetts (a genuine son of Emma and Samuel) did live next door to his married sister Elizabeth in 1891. But, many of the family appear to have been in Australia at the time of the 1891 census. Some of them appear to have returned in time for the Samson Dimmock/Tibbetts wedding in 1896, and Frances/Fanny had certainly returned before her death in 1899, and more of them in time for the 1901 census!
Unless someone can clarify their comings and goings from Australian records and ship arrivals (and also for William Bullock), we do seem to have reached a gap in the knowable if not a brickwall.
We still don't know whether Joseph Dimmock was actually the father of any of Emma's children that subsequently called themselves Dimmocks. Frances/Fanny was the last child that could have been fathered by Samuel Tibbetts. The later children were all born before Emma married Joseph Dimmock.

I think unknown, unknown is the way forward, perhaps with a note that any information to the contrary would be welcome. Each of the children born after Frances would be attributed to unk, unk. We do know that all Emma's children were registered as Tibbetts, but a descendant of one of the 'Dimmocks' may at some stage obtain a birth certificate which would clinch the paternity. Then, again, there's always DNA testing...

Think the 1896 wedding was Sampson Dimmock/Tibbetts (son of Emma) to Martha Emma Shaw, and the marriage of Sampson Dimmock (son of William & Betty Dimmock) to Mary Tibbetts (daur of Emma & Samuel Tibbetts) was in 1875. These families where they all use the same set of first names and where a woman marries her daughter's husband's elder brother make my head spin

A good suggestion. Detective work shows a Mansell family living at 50 Providence Street in both 1881 and 1891, from that a check of 47 and 48 in 1891 reveals:

+ Edward Kimberley
48 Samuel Grosvenor and family
49 Isaac Hill and family
