Otters

Post by nessa »

I had a call fom my husband this morning to say someone had found an injured otter be the side of the road first thing this morning, could I find a large cardboard box and take it to him. Duely found large box and went to find my husband and the otter cub, Tim was holding him by the tail we loaded the cub very carefully into the box and put him in my boot, we waited for the RSPCA but after waiting a while decided to take him to the vets down the road. An RSPCA inspecter arrived to collect a dog and took the cub to West Hatch near Taunton. We are going to ring later to see if the cub survived.
I have never seen an otter that close up his coat was a rich sable colour and such a cute face.

Just had a call from the RSPCA the otter died, he hadn't been hit by a car as we thought he had an abcess behind one eye from a bite probably another otter. They are very territorial.

Feel quite upset

Oh bless. You did your best though and not many people would use time to help.
