arc tbc..............EMMA CHAMBERS

Post by Marie n Bill »

Further to our message entitled The Dudley Family - Lye we now cover Joseph Dudley's wife, Emma Chambers.
This, again for the purpose of checking and maybe adding to BCC tree, or maybe just comment

Emma Chambers was baptised 30 Apr 1837 at Oldswinford the daughter of James and Sarah Chambers nee Rogers.
Emma had an ilegitimate son Charles Chambers born 1853.

Before dealing with early census, an explanation about her mother Sarah.
Sarah Rogers was baptised 5 Jan 1801 at Kinver the daughter of Joseph Rogers and Mary nee Snead.

Sarah Rogers married James Chambers 20 Jun 1825 Womborne.
By the 1841 census James Chambers had died;

1841 CENSUS
at Angel Street, Stourbridge
SARAH Chambers - 35 - ?? - NO
Charlotte Chambers - 15 - NO
Hannah Chambers - 13 - NO
EMMA Chambers - 3 - YES

On 21 Dec 1846 at Oldswinford, Sarah married John Marsh

1851 Census
at 112 Bridgnorth Road
John Marsh - head - 50 - bricklayers lab & Chelsea pensioner - Lye
SARAH Marsh - wife - 50 - Stourton
Thomas Chambers - step son - 19 - roller at ironworks - Stourton
EMMA Chambers - step dau.- 14 - worsted spinner - Stourbridge

1861 Census
at 56 Enville Street
SARAH Marsh (widow) head - 64 - Stourton

Taking into account our previous post and this one two different references to Rogers appear, we do not know if there was any connection or relationship.

We possess photographs of the following people and would be pleased to pass copies on if required;

Emma Chambers (2), Jemima Dudley 1868 (a number), Obediah Dudley 1867 (2), Fanny Dudley 1870, Elizabeth Dudley 1872, Lucy Dudley 1876 and Edith Dudley 1878
