Two lots of Dearnes

Post by expat66 »

I am trying to tie up loose ends.

I was looking at this couple on BCC .... Hannah Dearne married Edward Evans in 1873

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... rne-Family

16 Mar 1873 marriage
Parish church Harborne, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, United Kingdom
Edward Evans (full age, bachelor, labourer)living in Harborne, father William Evans(labourer)... marriage to Hannah Derne (full age, spinster) resident in Harborne, father Ephraim Derne(labourer). Witnessed by Isaac Derne & Eliza Derne( bride's siblings?)

I haven't been able to find either Hannah or Edward in 1871... thought maybe they might be in Harborne? as that is residence listed on marriage of 1873 :?
I was hoping to find them at least living near each other in 1871?

I have Hannah's family, the Dearnes for 1841, 1851 and 1861

all here on BCC
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... rne-Family

Now in 1871 there appears to be another Ephraim Dearne also married to a Mary..living in Harborne ( this confused me !)
It was transcribed as Deam... but I'm sure it's Dearn
Harding Street, Harborne
Ephraim Deam...Head 52 abt 1819 Male ..millwright at iron works ...Warley Wigan Shropshire England
Mary Deam...Wife..51..abt 1820..Female..London..?? Middlesex England
Ephraim Deam...Son..17 ..abt 1854 Male ... labourer at iron works....Smethwick Staffordshire England
Hannah Deam...Daughter...15....abt 1856...Female...Smethwick Staffordshire Engla
Elizabeth Deam...Daughter...8...abt 1863 ....Female ...Smethwick Staffordshire England
Mary Deam...Daughter...6 ..abt 1865 ...Female ...Smethwick Staffordshire England
William Appleton..Lodger...22...abt 1849..Male...Smethwick Staffordshire England
Peter Appleton..Lodger..20..abt 1851 Male...Newton Lancashire

Do these connect somehow with the other Dearnes we have on BCC
... that might explain why Hannah is in Harborne at time of her marriage maybe?.. with extended family?

Bit confusing having two Dearn households with Ephraim & Mary as heads!

Also still looking for Edward Evans in 1871 too :?

I think his family is this family from 1861 census
Derry Lane, Warley Wigorn, Staffordshire, England
William EVANS(50)labourer(born Montgomeryshire),
wife Sarah(41),Elizabeth(18..unmarried)& Susan(17)both wash. powder packers(all born Warley Wigorn),
Sarah(14), Edward(12)labourer,Drusilla(9),Levi(6),Mary(5),Samuel(2),David(1mth.born Warley)others -Oldbury

Any thoughts?
Any help you can give me with this would be great ... am hoping to 'firm up' who Edward Evans' family are ... thought maybe 1871 census might help

Thanks again

The Dearn family are a pain to trace, and when they married into my Cutlers it made it a nightmare....

This is the Hannah that married Edward with the two siblings who were witnesses at the wedding.

Thanks Mark,
'Ancestry' had the surname wrongly transcribed as 'Darnel', on that 1871 census, which explains why I couldn't find it before. I notice there are other Dearnes in the area too ... all wrongly transcribed... some listed as 'Oerne'

So I can fill some gaps for my Dearnes now :P
Thankyou
