Thomas married Sarah Guest 1825, remarried an Ann or Hannah date unknown.
Children maybe Benjamin 1825, Samuel 1827, Sarah date unknown.

Thanks there's some good stuff here.
I'm doing some rearch with a fellow Aussie of yours Di, into Benjamin Garratt who was transported to Tasmania.
Looks like he maybe this Thomas's son.

It is an old fashioned term for somebody who rents a room at an inn or shares a house with others.

It has nothing to do with being a criminal.

'inmate' seems to usually be used interchangeably with 'lodger' or 'boarder'. Maybe it indicates a non-paying boarder as it often seems to be a relative.
