I have received this information direct from a Layton in Halesowen
Your Mary Layton b. 1888, Halesowen had a brother called Thomas Layton b. 1893, Halesowen.
Thomas Layton is my husbands 2 x great grandfather. Thomas married a lady called Lily Field b. 1896, Halesowen. They married in March 1915 in Halesowen.
Lily was pregnant at the time of the marriage. She was carrying my husbands Great Grandma.
Thomas and Lily had 2 children -
1. Thomas Layton - b. 1920, Halesowen.
2. Alice Lilian Layton b. 1915, Halesowen. Died 5th November 2007, Nethercrest Nursing Home, Netherton. Alice is my husbands Great Grandma.
Alice married a man called Walter Leslie Layton - b. 1914, West Midlands. It wasn't until doing the family tree that i found out that Alice and Walter were 2nd Cousins. She was shocked when i told her.
Alice and Walter had 3 children.
Max Layton - b. 1937, Halesowen. Died 1937, Halesowen. Max was a stillborn baby. It wasn't until Alice's funeral that i found out that she had a child called Max.
Bryn Layton - b. 1953, West Midlands.
Wendy Denise Layton - b. 1940, West Midlands. Wendy is my husbands Grandma.

NOW I did a seach for WALTER LESLIE HACKETT who was born 1914 /April May June/ Stourbridge/Hackett/6c 12, How do I find out which Hackett the mother is? and who is his father? Laura a greatgrand child did NOT say which Layton he belong to?

Here is the birth

Births Jun 1914 LAYTON Walter L Hackett Stourbridge 6c 12
so you could send for the birth cert it would have the mothers name on...

here is the marriage.... this can be looked up at the archives I can help you there...

1936
LAYTON Alice L LAYTON Leslie W Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/012/264

that marriage would give the father

but this looks likely to be the marriage

1910
LAYTON Walter HACKETT Sarah Stourbridge Register Office Dudley Register Office 001/026/175

but cos it is a regis office cant be looked up
to look up at archives need a church
or need to send off for certif

Once you have the father should be easy to find the family newly married on the 1911 census

I have updated Connections with some of this

So Walter marries Alice
we need to know father on that is a Walter
I have added that to look ups and will report the info back......but that would then tie up the cousins marrying cousins bit.

Just to let every one know far and wide here are the results of NL's marriage look up

Leslie Walter and Alice Lillian are related and the link is back here-

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnections

It is the brothers Joseph Layton b 1852 who married Mary Rudge

and Thomas Layton b 1848 who married Mary Franklin

The line then goes....

William Layton father (common ancestor)

Then Joseph and brother Thomas

1.Joseph had ...Walter...Walter had Walter Leslie/or Leslie Walter

Then..

2.Thomas had...Thomas had Alice Lillian

and then Leslie Walter layton married Alice Lillian Layton

they are second cousins

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ ... /chart.htm

this relationship calculator verifies it.

Ive sent an invatation to Laura to join us, weve just gain a new member called Lauz so if this is she time will tell ?

Hi - the only Laytons that so far that I have not been able to source are Elsie and George and it is within them there are other living cousins that I have been made aware of Catherine?
In reply to your article in the local paper there are only 4 of our generation left in existence. We are the sons and daughters of Mary's sister and brother, Elise and George.
Elise = Joyce, Joan and Kenneth
George = Arthur
We have a few photographs of Mary as a child and some of the Layton family members. We have no information about the Hacketts
Catherine
(Daughter of Arthur Layton).
It now over a week I responded via email and have heard nothing - I have preliminary searches but no good my end.

Thanks Raymond
