Postcards of Oldbury

Post by Antie Em »

Went to collect my Langley Around About book yesterday from Langley Local History Society and bought a smashing little book of Postcards of Oldbury, 1900 - 1925. If anyone is interested you can get them from www.historyofoldbury.co.uk.

They have just a few Langley Around About left - this will soon be out of print. If you have rellies from the area, both are well worth buying.

Talking to Lyn yesterday and she was telling me about the progress they are making on their next production of shops in Langley and Oldbury. If anyone has photos, there is still time to get them into the new book - please contact her through the above website.

They are also trying to contact relatives of Jack Judge (It's a long way to Tipperary) to be invited to the opening of the new Oldbury Library.

It will be opening on the 21st March, but the archives will be staying in Smethwick, I'll get a couple of photos for Mally.. It looks like the old library will become a Wetherspoons pub.
