ARC TBC.........Lucy Brown/Thompson

Post by nessa »

Lucy is Rose's sister it appears that Lucy travelled with her daughter Lillian born about 1916 on the same ship as Rose to Amercia "Mobile" 1920 they were going to join Lucy's husband James Thompson in Pittsburgh, I have looked for a marriage between lucy and james in Brierley Hill around 1916 with out luck can anyone see a marriage for them.

In both the 1920 and 1930 US census she says she emmigrated in 1913.

Her daughter Lillian is reportedly born in Pennsylvania.

So they probably married in the USA, had Lillian and Lucy made a trip to England to show her to Grandad and Grandma before returning in 1920.

I will see if I can find her entry into the UK. and earlier entryin the USA.

There are two Lucy Brown who arrive in the USA in 1913.

One and adult with an occupation of Maid and is not travelling with family.

The other is born 1896, which matches, and is a Domestic Servant.

There are other Brown on the boat.

Mr. H.P Brown.
Mr Harry Brown.
Jacob Brown.

Looks like Lucy was crossed off and not allowed to board as she was not accompanied by family!

Sounds like an attempt to elope?

P.S. James Thompson emmigrated in 1909.
